When integration transforms the metalworking industry

The partnership between our Group and Ognibene Power: the Sase Study.

THE OBJECTIVES

"For years the metalworking industry has been working on production processes, while it has overlooked the management of logistics. In an increasingly competitive market, it is important to focus on these aspects too, in order to optimize internal intralogistics processes", explains Stefano Cappelletto, Production Planner Manager at Ognibene Power. “A radical overhaul of the internal company culture was necessary, in order to support this high-impact intervention for logistics automation”.

"We were impressed by the solutions offered by E80 Group, in terms of flexibility and reliability", Nicola Gazzotti, Logistics Engineer at Ognibene Power, adds. By successfully applying its solutions to the existing plant of a metalworking company, where the quality of data plays a key role, E80 Group has customized its systems to fulfil the requirements of Ognibene Power, thus ensuring production continuity throughout the entire period of intervention.

THE SOLUTION

The need to increase the storage capacity of the plant, boosting the level of safety in the production area, has led to the centralization of the warehouse, through the implementation of a VNA solution that ensures maximum saturation in height and the optimisation of covered surface area. Three-sided laser guided vehicles operate along very narrow aisles, effectively responding to the requirements of Ognibene Power. On top of that, this warehousing solution was implemented "keeping in mind a potential future expansion, in terms of an increase in the demand", Loris Rossi, Logistics and Material Manager at Ognibene Power, specifies.

All the flows at the plant are coordinated by the software developed by E80 Group, ensuring the integrated and automated management of hardware and software systems. This guarantees optimal conditions in all operations, from the entry of raw materials to warehousing and shipping, ensuring total traceability of all handled products.

RESULTS OF THE PROJECT

Cappelletto adds that "E80 Group is so much more than just a supplier, it is a partner that has enabled us to develop and customize the plant according to our specifications"
Beside sharing the same territory, the two companies have the same attitude towards continuous development. This inspired them to team up and create an integrated and optimised supply chain thanks to tailor-made logistics solutions for processes optimization, thus boosting plant's flexibility, sustainability and safety.

Increasing warehousing capacity and implementing safety at production facilities. These requirements laid the foundations for the partnership between E80 Group and Ognibene Power, a metalworking company, leader in the production, development and design of components for power steering systems, such as hydraulic actuators and steering units in particular. Founded 70 years ago in the province of Reggio Emilia as a family-run production workshop for tractors and agricultural machinery, Ognibene Power has remarkably expanded its global presence over the years. Today its headquarter is in Italy, its production branches are spread among Brazil, India, China and the United States and its commercial branches are located in Japan and Germany. The company has secured its growth through significant milestones that have characterised its history and foundation, while looking to the future, inspired by innovation and family values.
